Background

The Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC) serves as the premier One-Stop Centre for comprehensive talent solutions in Johor, strategically created to address the evolving talent needs of the region.

Chaired directly by Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Bin Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia and co-chaired by YAB Dato’ Onn Hafiz Bin Ghazi, the Menteri Besar of Johor, JTDC represents a significant collaboration among seven federal ministries, eight public universities based in Johor and more than 100 TVET and private education institutions.

To position Johor as a leading state with a robust, industry-ready workforce, propelling the region towards developed status by 2030.

Objectives

  1. Bringing Education and Training into Line with Industry Needs
    Reorganizing training and educational initiatives to guarantee that graduates have the skills needed by the industry.
  2. One-Stop Expert Labor Center
    Serving as a major hiring ground for competent workers and working with the Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre Johor (IMFC-J) to draw in investments.
  3. Partnership between Industry and Education
    Strengthening relationships between companies and academic institutions to enhance career possibilities and job placement.
  4. Data Collection & Analysis for Workers
    Using workforce data collection and analysis to make sure Johor’s talent development plans meet the needs of the sector going forward.

JTDC coordinates the restructuring and alignment of higher education programs, ensuring courses are industry-driven and focused on sectors critical to Johor’s economic growth, such as Digital Economy, Business Services, Finances Services, Manufacturing, Logistics, Energy, Tourism, Healthcare, Education, and Food Security.

We foster strong collaboration between Johor’s educational institutions and global industry giants, ensuring student receive world-class training, relevant internships, and direct career placements.

JTDC actively designs and implements strategies to boots the income potential of Johor’s workforce, addressing youth employment issues and skill mismatches. We are committed to creating high-value employment opportunities.

Our initiatives include major upskilling programs, direct career placements, professional apprenticeships, and targeted training programs. JTDC leverages initiatives like the Johor Singapore Special Economic Zone (JSSEZ), positioning Johor as a regional hub of innovation, talent excellence, and economic competitiveness.
